Contact Style and Form for more information or to direct a contribution. A donation in your name, or in memory of someone will be sent once a short form is submitted. American Red Cross

Since its founding in 1881 by visionary leader Clara Barton, the American Red Cross has been the nation's premier emergency response organization. As part of a worldwide movement that offers neutral humanitarian care to the victims of war, the American Red Cross distinguished itself by also aiding victims of devastating natural disasters. Over the years, the organization has expanded its services, always with the aim of preventing and relieving suffering.

When UNICEF was created in 1946, to help the children of war-torn Europe, China and the Middle East, the acronym stood for "United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund." But by 1953, UNICEF's mandate was extended to address the needs of children in the developing world. At that point, the words "international" and "emergency" were dropped from the organization's name, making it simply the United Nations Children's Fund.
